Eat two snacks a day, mid-morning and mid-afternoon to keep my metabolism up. <\/td>\n<td width=\"35%\">Daily<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\">\n<td width=\"5%\">\n<div align=\"right\">6<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"20%\">Taking Vitamins<\/td>\n<td width=\"40%\">Take a good liquid <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eniva.com\/products\/prod_vibe2.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">multivitamin, mineral, and antioxidant<\/a>. <\/td>\n<td width=\"35%\">Daily, 1 oz. after breakfast <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\">\n<td width=\"5%\">\n<div align=\"right\">7<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"20%\">General Reading<\/td>\n<td width=\"40%\">Listen to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.audible.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">books on my iPod<\/a> while I am running. <\/td>\n<td width=\"35%\">Monday, Wednesday,  Thursday, and Saturday at 5:30 a.m.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\">\n<td width=\"5%\">\n<div align=\"right\">8<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"20%\">Life Plan Review <\/td>\n<td width=\"40%\">Review my written life plan (a seven-page document) <\/td>\n<td width=\"35%\">Weekly, on Sunday evening with my weekly review <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\">\n<td width=\"5%\">\n<div align=\"right\">9<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"20%\">Solo Retreats <\/td>\n<td width=\"40%\">Get off-site for 36 hours a quarter to review my business vision, business plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/michaelhyatt.com\/2009\/08\/before-you-create-a-to-do-list.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">master task list<\/a>, and time block. <\/td>\n<td width=\"35%\">Quarterly, scheduled off-site <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr valign=\"top\">\n<td width=\"5%\">\n<div align=\"right\">10<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<td width=\"20%\">Financial Review <\/td>\n<td width=\"40%\">Review my personal budget, statements, and investment portfolio with Gail. <\/td>\n<td width=\"35%\">Monthly, scheduled on a Saturday morning <\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p><!--more-->I\u2019ve asked Dan to hold me accountable to this list. He\u2019s my \u201caccountability partner.\u201d We have a scheduled call every two weeks. But this could have as easily been a friend or co-worker. The key thing is to formulate your list, give a copy to your partner, and then schedule a time to check in and check up. I have found that every two weeks is about right. But you <em>must<\/em> get it on your calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Like you, I\u2019m sure, I often go through periods when I struggle to find the motivation to stick with it. That\u2019s why you have an accountability partner. Knowing I will have to give Dan an account is sometimes just the leverage I need to get up and get with it.<\/p>\n<p>I have also found that if I can get the first couple of disciplines knocked out first thing in the morning, the rest of them will follow like beads on a string.<\/p>\n<p>Or to use another metaphor, my friend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newlife.com\/Radio\/bio.asp?id=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Steve Arterburn<\/a> once exhorted me, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/michaelhyatt.com\/2007\/01\/slay-your-dragons-before-breakfast.html\" title=\"Post: Slay Your Dragaons Before Breakfast\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">slay your dragons before breakfast<\/a>, so they don\u2019t eat your lunch.\u201d My two biggest dragons are spiritual and physical lethargy. So, the first thing I do upon rising in the morning is read my Bible. (Well, actually I get a cup of coffee, but that\u2019s not really a discipline!) Then, I head to the gym. If I can get these two items knocked off my list, it\u2019s downhill from there.<\/p>\n<div class=\"question\">Question: So, before two much of the new year slips by, how about identifying what\u2019s on your list.
